Spotlight on Rempfer Cellars, Wine at 815 Sutter Street

We're excited to spotlight Rempfer Cellars as the first in our new Folsom Historic District Merchant and Business Spotlight Series.

We'll work to spotlight long-time favorites, new arrivals, and hidden gems alike. We encourage you to share these local stories and visit with merchants to get to know them firsthand.

We connected with owner Jeff Rempfer to get the low-down on Rempfer Cellars at 815 Sutter Street.

How would you describe Rempfer Cellars?

Rempfer Cellars is a wine tasting room meant to capture the experience of wine tasting in Napa right here in Folsom.

You can expect to taste 5 different California wines that change with the vintages and when we add a new wine to our portfolio.

We also offer a selection of meats and cheeses so you can build your own charcuterie plate.

There is a small tasting fee of $5 which is refunded if you purchase a bottle of wine.

What led you to start Rempfer Cellars and what are a couple common questions people have about the business?

I started making wine after owning multiple wine bars for 10 years. I have always had a passion for great wine and really enjoy the wine-making process.

I hope to build a recognizable brand with great wine and still keep a very small production.

Rempfer Cellars allows me to share both.

People who visit us for the first time seem surprised to learn that we offer a nice variety of meats and cheeses available to enhance the experience. They also are pleased to learn that we have a wide variety of wines from different regions around California. We don’t just make wine from one region.

Our most popular wine is our Tetrahedron blend.

We offer shipping but there are many rules about shipping wine to other states so there are some limitations.

What's the biggest compliment you've received?

We receive compliments on our wines, logo, ambiance at the tasting room and the great service. We appreciate each and every compliment, any compliment is big for me.  I truly love every compliment I get.

What are some ways you're involved with the community in Folsom and why did you choose the Historic District?

I've been a fireman for 24 years and we donate to firefighter specific events to help raise money, we also always try to get involved in any event in the Historic District. We put all of our District marketing items in our tasting room.

The Historic Districts events are so different they are all good. I particularly like dressing up on the Halloween trick or treat. We're working on a large wine event for the street hopefully next spring sometime, more on that later.

I have lived in the Historic District for over 20 years.  This is my home and I love this area, this is where I want to live and have a business.

I am a member of the Chamber and I am also a Historic District Commissioner for the City of Folsom.

As a Historic District Commissioner, I get to be involved in the approval of businesses and buildings that are built in the district. We work with city staff and residents to decide what would be best for the district.

What can people expect in the future from Rempfer Cellars?

In January we'll be releasing 3 new wines at an event for our wine club members with live music, food and, of course, wine.

The 3 wines are our 2015 Amador Zinfandel, 2015 Amador Tetrahedron blend and our 2015 Howell Mtn Napa Cab.
