Small Business Spotlight; Dragon's Den Art Gallery & Tattoo Studio

"People get tattoos for many reasons. Some are collecting artwork, while others are marking a significant stage in their life or memorializing a loved one. Maybe someone just got out of an abusive relationship and wants to make themselves feel beautiful again with forever art. Whatever the reason, tattoos are a type of therapy for people that allows them to wear how they feel."Jess, owner of Dragon's Den Tattoo Studio & Art Gallery, had her tattoo license before she graduated with her BFA from Eastern. By 21, she was able to open the studio/gallery's first location in Uncasville and began a full-time career of creating. Jess worked solo in that location for a couple years before taking on fellow Eastern BFA graduate, Gretta Ingraham as an apprentice. Gretta is now an amazing full-time artist, and the two are able to curate a fine art, feminine, professional and positive environment for their clients and visitors.Last year, Jess was ready to expand the studio and wanted a location where they could become more involved in an art community and the overall town community. Jess knew Manchester had the type of art scene they were looking for. After working to change zoning regulations and doing major renovations - Dragon's Den Tattoo Studio & Art Gallery opened its doors on September 7th, 2021."Society is starting to realize that tattoos are fine art. There are many styles and artists specialize their craft , providing their clients with exactly what they desire. Greta and I are very fine art focused. We focus on custom work, and being able to take our client's inspirations and put our artistry into it.""We love being a part of the tattoo community. We help people cover up scars or old tattoos from their past that make them uncomfortable. We get to see them look in the mirror and feel beautiful again, to feel -“I like the way I see myself more.” Tattoos give people confidence, and that’s cool to be a part of.""I’m proud of the growth of my business and my growth as an artist. I want the Dragon’s Den to be known for supporting artists and having welcoming open arms for everyone."- Jess Wagner, Owner & Artist of Dragon's Den Tattoo Studio & Art Gallery Originally posted by Downtown Manchester Special Services District via Locable
