New Business Alert: Creamy Rolls (& Bonus Announcement!)
Welcome to Downtown Manchester, Creamy Rolls!
Meet Daniel Davila, owner of Creamy Rolls on Main Street.
(Bonus announcement at the end!)
I grew up in Manchester and I wanted to bring this to my hometown. There have been many other opportunities in other locations, but I wanted to keep it close to home and bring something to my neighborhood because this is my neighborhood.
I’ve been going to the car show since I was like 10 years old. It was always a big thing because I’m a big muscle car fanatic. That was one of the main reasons I wanted to be downtown.
Maybe six years ago my two daughters and I visited a rolled ice cream spot in West Hartford. I had already heard about this from a friend, and when I saw it in West Hartford I knew this was the business I wanted to start. I have other businesses, but this was my vision. I just had to wait for a downtown location.
People always ask me if this is a franchise, but it's not. This is all from the top of my head - from the name to the ice cream we make. The base that we use is crema, a Puerto Rican base. We use that base to make our own ice cream fresh to order for each customer. We use the sub zero plate to take it from a liquid base to rolled ice cream in less than three minutes. We have three bases ready - A Little Taste of Puerto Rico, that’s the corn base, and then the vanilla base and a dairy free base as well. They all use the Puerto Rican crema. As we make the ice cream we mix the toppings in. Right on the spot.
It took a while to get through the process and be ready to open. Then, right as we were opening Creamy Rolls another opportunity showed up! We just got the keys to this new space next door, which used to be Mexico Lindo. We are going to be opening Danny’s Little Taste of Puerto Rico!
My goal with the restaurant is to bring my aunt’s Puerto Rican recipes and flavors to Downtown Manchester. We want to be different from other restaurants. I’m most excited to bring my aunt’s carne bif, puerto rican corned beef, in an affordable dish. This is a dish that is special to my family, and I know it’s not something you can get in many places in CT.
This is all a family affair. My wife and daughter are running the Creamy Rolls side with me, and I’m excited to have my aunt helping cook in the restaurant. My aunt helped to raise me, she is the glue that holds our family together, and her cooking was a big part of my childhood.
We are open 7 days a week - and our restaurant will even be open for breakfast! So, come down and try our rolled ice cream anytime. We look forward to serving up some Puerto Rican food this fall!
