Remiders from the Department of Planning & Economic Development

Dear Manchester Downtown Business Owner:

We hope this message finds you and your business well. As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting and enhancing Manchester’s downtown area, we would like to remind everyone about the Town’s zoning regulations and Downtown Design Guidelines regarding signage and lighting.

(Watch this video for quick-fact reminders)

In order to assist businesses in recovering from the Covid-19 pandemic, the town has not focused on enforcement of these rules in recent years.  In advance of future enforcement activity we wanted to first provide an overview of what the rules are- in order to give all businesses the opportunity to come into compliance.

To assist you in understanding these regulations better, we have created a very short video that contains essential information on what kinds of signs are permitted in Downtown Manchester.

For more information, links to the zoning regulations and guidelines are included for your use below:

 Downtown Architectural Guidelines:

Manchester Zoning Regulations (See Article IV Section 13 on Signage):

All Permanent and Temporary Signage requires a permit from the Building Department:

If you have any questions or require further assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to our Planning and Economic Development Planning Department. We are here to support you every step of the way and offer complimentary signage consultancy upon request.

Thank you for your cooperation and dedication to maintaining the charm and vitality of Manchester's Downtown District. Together, we can continue to make our beautiful downtown a great place to live, work, and visit.

Sincerely,

Concilia "Cece" Ndlovu
