Downtown Outdoor Dining
To ensure a safe and organized experience for both businesses and patrons, we want to remind you of the permit requirements:
- Permit Required: A permit is required each year for any outdoor dining setup that involves tables on the sidewalk.
- Exception: Small tables placed directly against the building wall, that do not extend into the sidewalk, and do not involve table service, are exempt from the permit requirement.
- Purnell Place: Restaurants abutting Purnell Place who are interested in placing tables on Purnell Place during days it is closed to vehicular traffic (dates TBD) should contact me directly for coordination and permitting information.
- No Fee: There is no fee associated with the outdoor dining permit.
You can find detailed permit information and the application here: https://www.manchesterct.gov/Government/Departments/Planning-and-Economic-Development/Submit-a-Development-Application/Seasonal-Outdoor-Dining-Area-Permits
We encourage you to submit your applications promptly to ensure a smooth start to the outdoor dining season.
We believe that outdoor dining enhances the vibrancy of our downtown and provides an enjoyable experience for our community. We are here to support you in making the most of this opportunity.
If you have any questions or require further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thank you for your cooperation 1 and for being a valuable part of Downtown Manchester.
