Volunteer event will clean up Lincoln Street Elementary School garden of invasive weeds

Sign up to tidy the garden with us!

HDP is seeking volunteers to participate in a tidy-up effort at the Lincoln Street Elementary School garden. This beloved garden has fallen into disrepair over the past couple of years, and we are excited to restore it to its former glory. Volunteers will be asked to pull weeds and tree seedlings as well as make some minor repairs to the fence and planter boxes. Once cleaned up, the garden will be ready to be used by the teachers and students upon their return!

Learn about pollinators while you work!

This project was brought to us by Debby Garmin, our local pollinator expert. Debby is a wealth of pollinator knowledge and an asset to the Downtown Hillsboro community through her advocacy and expertise in the world of pollinators. She reminds us of the importance of community spaces like the school garden and how they help us to share this wisdom with future generations.

Prepare to get your hands dirty!

The garden is located off of Jackson Street, along the fence of the sports field on the north side of the school. Parking is available along Jackson Street or in the school parking lot. Bring plenty of water and wear sturdy shoes and comfortable clothes you can move and dig in. We will provide gloves and tools, but feel free to bring your own if you prefer. Follow the link to sign up today!
