October is HillsDOer month!
HillsDOer month is celebrated every October and is an entire month dedicated to building community through volunteer service. Hillsboro Downtown Partnership has filled the calendar with many opportunities to give back to the community we all love.
Saturday October 1st: We will continue the work we started during the first garden clean up day. (Read more about that here!) Work may include making garden beds safe, spreading mulch, or pulling weeds.
Sunday October 2nd: We will be picking up litter and cleaning graffiti with our neighbors at M&M Marketplace, our local Mercado which hosts over 80 independent businesses every weekend.
Saturday October 8th: We will host a pruning party complete with all the equipment you will need to assist us in this much needed annual maintenance. We will cut branches, leaves and limbs and haul them in carts to a central location where Beautification staff will take them to green waste.
Saturday October 15th: We will host a crocheting workshop with all of the supplies you need to make adorable patches called "granny squares". Finished granny squares, circles, and other flat projects will be patched together for our Downtown textile takeover just in time for the November Art Walk in Downtown Hillsboro.
Saturday October 22: We will hold a volunteer work party dedicated to preparing for Cozy Up, our creative textile takeover and preparations for our annual Halloween in Downtown Hillsboro event on October 29th.
Saturday October 29: We will be celebrating Halloween in Downtown Hillsboro from 3pm-6pm and could use help from volunteers in preparation, during the event and during tear down.
