Austin Jones (Printmaking Demo) @ West Arts Fest

Austin Jones is a printmaker from Point Pleasant, WV. Austin studied Art and Printmaking at Marietta College after retiring from a career at IMB, where he started collecting many old print-making machines as they were phased out of use in the 1960-70s. Austin started working with Heritage Farm's Founder, Mike Perry, in the 1990s to establish a printmaking exhibit in the Progress Museum. Jones is exhibiting “Rain or Shine” with Joe Cox. This team of printmakers brought an historic advertisement back to life. This reproduction print of a Fesenmeier Brewery Ad was hand printed April 2023 using the original printing plate on a Potter Proof Press. The metal plate is made of zinc and had to be hand inked for each print. The Fesenmeier Brewery operated for more than 80 years under various brand names and was located on Madison Ave. Check it out in person at the Central City Museum and learn about the printing press process with Cox and Jones.
