Efi G @ Gallery 610

Brief Bio

Efthymia Giannakopoulou, also known as Efi G, is a local artist from Athens, Greece, who now resides in Huntington with her husband Joel, and her two daughters, Jade and Eliana. Efi specializes in embroidery art. She said that since she was a kid, she always like to draw and paint, but mostly loved to use her pencils to draw animals, flowers, magazines, and book covers. When she first started to embroider, she was about ten years old. “My grandma taught me everything she knew about embroidery,” she said.

Efi said embroidery has always been fascinating to her because, “it’s like you can draw and paint whatever you like,  but instead of using a pencil or a brush, you are using a needle,” she said. She added that she loves designs that mostly have to do with flowers, cats, and women figures. “All of my women-themed art is dedicated to all the women, who in any form and any way, have suffered, hurt, and have lost themselves,” she said.

Work on Display

For the “My Heart’s Desire” Exhibit, Efi has two beautiful embroidery pieces framed titled, “Self Love.” She said, “Self Love,” is a reminder of how beautiful and strong women can be, and “a reminder that women need to appreciate themselves and embrace their inner strength.”
