BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT: ORANGE VALE WATER COMPANY

Making a splash on the scene for this Business Spotlight is the Orange Vale Water

Company, one of the area’s oldest running public owned businesses serving the water needs of Orangevale and nearby communities since 1896.

With roots stemming from the early days of Orange Vale, the Orange Vale Water
Company, located at 9031 Central Avenue, manages the water for nearly 17,000 customers in
Orangevale and surrounding areas. The operation is run by a crew of nine full-time plus one
part-time employee under the direction of new General Manager, Joe Duran.

According to Joe, a water conservationist, the Orange Vale Water Company is trying to
be more interactive with the community. It’s not just about providing water service to the area,
but also reaching out and teaching the community about ways to be “water wise” in their
landscape and any other water related issues.

“It was my personal interactions with our customers that prompted me to start the
community workshops,” said Joe. “This is the first of what we hope will be many more events to
come covering water smart conservation tips and education for the public.”

By all accounts, the first Water Smart Landscape Workshop, presented by Landscape
expert and design consultant, Cheryl Buckwalter, to a packed house was a huge success. No
date is set for the next workshop, but anyone interested can check the Orange Vale Water
