Business Spotlight: Fix Auto

Orangevale Chamber of Commerce Business Spotlight – North Star Collision aka Fix Auto by MaryAnne Povey

This month’s feature is one I’ve been anxiously awaiting to write. It’s a story near and dear to my heart about a local kid who’s “done good” and continues to “do good” in our little community of Orangevale. Jesse Hord, owner of North Star Collision Repair, now doing business as “Fix Auto” at 8832 Greenback Lane, has achieved much since graduating in 2003 from Casa Roble High School in Orangevale. After mastering auto shop at Casa, Jesse continued his training taking advanced engine machining and welding courses from Sierra College in Rocklin. Today, Jesse is a respected business leader in Orangevale, is known for his tremendous generosity to countless charity/community events, so it’s no wonder Jesse and his business have been recognized Best of Orangevale for three years in a row.

“I’ve always been good with my hands,” said Jesse. “I love to build things like motors and motorcycles. At 17 I got my first job at an auto body shop and the rest is history!”

Once you get to know Jesse, you’ll quickly sense his dedication to his business and providing the best job possible to his customers. His tremendous work ethic and desire to succeed is what got him to where he is today and pushes him to strive for more.

“At one of my first jobs, I had a great tech who taught me everything from body work, to invoicing correctly”, Jesse shared. “That was the beginning of much more to come.”

From there he started a journeymanship with Body Craft, and then to other top auto collision repair shops in the area. At night, he taught himself how to paint. “Those days were long, but worth it,” Jesse reflected.

Eventually being at the right place at the right time, Jesse caught wind of an opportunity, a collision shop with equipment was up for sale. Within 24 hours Jesse put together his offer and his award winning “North Star Collision Repair” now called “Fix Auto” was born!

“The shop was totally outdated by 30 years!” Jesse laughed. “We went through everything, did lots of repairs and made it what it is today.” Anyone who’s been in the office can appreciate his custom handiwork on the desks and counters designed and handmade by Jesse.

So now to what everyone is wondering…what’s an award-winning, thriving business doing changing its name?

First of all, Jesse wants everyone to know “it’s the same owner, same staff and same service…but better!” By joining “Fix Auto”, his business is now part of a network that offers more efficient, streamlined service to its customers.

Jesse’s staff have undergone extensive training including I CAR Gold certification which is a high industry achievement.
