Main streets represent the core of communities. Main Street Arkansas is a program for downtown commercial revitalization that is taking aim to make sure these downtown areas stay vibrant and viable. The program, which started in 1984 and is a project of the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program, has chapters across the state in place that are helping to revive the community downtown. Calico Rock Main Street Network is one of these communities.
