Views Of The Blues
If you haven’t taken a trip to the South end of town lately, go take one last glance at the sprawling wheatfields while you can, because Key Boulevard Estates is coming to Milton-Freewater. Over the next 20 years, 185 acres of wheat field will become a vibrant community with spectacular views of the Blues, and it has already begun!
As an homage to the Key Family’s legacy, the street names are endearingly named after Mayor Key’s family members: Patty, Gregory, Tracy, and, of course, Lewis. The first phase of construction came down the North side of Lewis Circle, the second phase included the South side of Lewis and connected to Key Blvd. The final phase, the point at which the development is now, is completing the interior of the 74-lot plat which encompasses Patty Circle, Gregory, and Tracy which intersect down into Patty and Key.
Currently at Key Boulevard Estates are 11 Blue Plank homes, 12 Hayden Homes (with at least another eight on the way), and two Lexar homes. Due to the tragic passing of one of the Lexar founding members and a sprawling 600-home spread over in Couer D’Alene, there may only be two Lexar homes ever made in the development. Ten lucky families will be able to build homes with daylight basements and an unobstructed view of the beautiful Blue Mountains! Thanks to the former Sykes building, the entire development is already equipped with fiber internet which runs at 15 gigabytes/second, which some of the current residents who work in the tech industry use to easily work from home.
Also in the works is a 7.5-acre All American Garage with varying sizes of commercial condos that will accommodate even the largest RV, and can be owned just like a house. The proposed plan will create 81 separate garage storage units for individual purchase, varying in size from 24’x40’ to 24’x60’. This facility will also include a 30’x40’ “Clubhouse”, which will serve as a common area for the unit owners to use, and provides a private lounge area, with couches, chairs, a small kitchen, and full bathrooms with shower facilities. The private clubhouse will have a rear covered porch, with seating areas and a bar-b-que bar for private group events. The clubhouse will also be used as a meeting area for the unit owners to conduct monthly business affairs. The clubhouse, access areas, and landscaped areas will be recognized as common space that will be owned and maintained by the Garage Condominium Owners Association. Each garage unit owner will be an automatic member of the Association.
As an owner of one of the AAG units, it is common to improve and customize units, perhaps with upgraded interior features such as lofts, internal shelving, car lifts, upgraded power supply for wood working or parking your RV with power hookups, and much more.
Going forward, the visionaries running this project believe that Key Boulevard Estates will become a cutting-edge community with the best amenities at their fingertips. Included in this vision is a fuel stop that would accommodate both large and small vehicles, the ability to charge Electric Vehicles, playgrounds, walking paths, and access to Basket Mountain Road where residents can cycle or go horseback riding! The preliminary plan also includes building a new corporate center with office spaces and accommodating business needs.
