Perennial Plant Sale at the Oct. 12 Market

"Make us your downtown destination for fresh, local, and wonderful."

Before you think that gardening is over when the temperatures begin to drop, remember this is the perfect time to plant trees, shrubs, and perennials. They love the cooler weather. Just keep them watered until their roots are established and next spring you will be glad you planned ahead with perennials.

This Saturday, Oct. 12, Carter Nursery and Landscaping is having a sale on their perennial plants.  Hostas, Black-eyed Susan (pictured here), Phlox, and Cone Flowers are priced at $7. It's a price you can't beat, and the quality of Jonathan's plants is outstanding.

And while you are digging in new plants, remember to plant pansies for winter color. Triple A Farms is bringing pansies from their greenhouse to the market this Saturday.

If you're ready for some indoor gardening, Classy Cactus has a wide variety of succulents, and Little Owl Craft Co. has houseplants--and handmade plant hangers. We do have something for everyone at the Saturday Market.

See you on the square Saturday morning from 8-noon for the market. The market is open through October 26.

Pansies for Winter Color

When summer blooms fade and seasonal plantings die back, gardeners are already thinking about bringing color back into the landscape, but you don't have to wait until next spring. Try planting pansies now for color during the fall and winter.

Just remember, when it's cold and dry pansies need water to keep blooming.  Pansies are not hard to care for, but regular watering, fertilizing, and pruning increases their blooming and the vitality of the plant. Shop this Saturday at the Triple A Farms vendor tent for fresh pansies.

Vintage Ginger Crafts: City-Scapes, Eagles, and More

Check out the wood designs at Vintage Ginger Crafts this Saturday. While you're there, try your hand at one of their games. Or, look for tiny crocheted pumpkin earrings to get ready for the Halloween season.
