Saturday Market Newsletter October 26

Last Market Day-Reflections

Thank you Middle TN for a terrific 2024 Market Season.

We started the season with record-breaking crowds in May, and you all have not let us down for the last six months of the Saturday Market. On behalf of our vendors, sponsors, musicians, and community groups at the market, thank you for believing in the value of a local farmers' market.

So many of you have made a market trip a part of your Saturdays, and we have looked forward to saying hello and chatting with you on Saturday mornings. Our vendors know you and look forward to seeing their "regular customers." It's also a boost when they meet new customers and then see them return--happy with what they bought and ready to try more new products.

Most of all, on behalf of Main Street Murfreesboro and the Saturday Market, I want to thank all of you for strengthening our community, appreciating our downtown, and supporting local farmers, growers, makers, and producers who rely on the market to get their products to customers. We will update you on where you can buy from our vendors in the off-season through Facebook and our newsletter. We are already planning our 2025 Season.

See you on the square Saturday morning from 8-noon.

Here's the Market Lineup for October 26

Fresh Turkeys for the Holidays from HPA Farm

Just in time for the holidays, HPA Farm has pasture raised turkeys. They are available for $6.50 a pound, with a $20 deposit to reserve your turkey. Jonathan said he should have a few weighing 20 plus pounds, and the rest should be 8-15 pounds. You can't get any fresher than straight from the farm. You can text HPA at 615-631-5666 to reserve yours! Stop by HPA's tent this Saturday to talk with Jonathan about his turkeys and other meat from the farm.

Doggie Photo Booth is Back at the Market with Prizes!

Hey Murfreesboro! In honor of the last weekend at the Murfreesboro Saturday Market, Quinnessential Creatives will feature a Halloween Pet Photo Booth and a special Pet Halloween Costume contest!

She will compile all the names and emails of the participants. After the market, she will post on FB and IG stories all of the photo entries for everyone to vote. Voting will end on October 31st, and the winner will be announced! Entry with the most likes will win a FREE custom bandana from QC Pets and a bag of treats from our friends at Natural Bites. More uses for flowers. Be surprised when you visit the Saturday Market.

McIntosh Field & Flower now produces and carries dried floral garnishes for your cooking and baking enjoyment! Using dried flowers and high-quality spices and seasonings, they've created Flower Salt & Pepper to be used as finishing spices for your savory cooking creations - the flowers add color and micronutrients, but you cannot taste them! There is also Rose Sugar & Spicy Salt - a combination of dried flower petals and blended seasonings that can be added to any cocktail's rim or sprinkled on freshly grilled veggies or sweet treats. These products have a long shelf life - so stop by to fill up on holiday gifts and more this Saturday at their booth!

Scent of the Sun-Fall and Winter Soaps Available Saturday

Scent of the Sun recently unveiled their fall and winter soap collection, which includes new soaps such as Rum Rhapsody (almond and rum), Pomegranate Splash (pomegranate and lemongrass), Nebula (grapefruit, flowers, and oak moss), and Hot Toddy (bourbon, clove and bergamot) and returning varieties like Pumpkin Butter, Peppermint, and Winter Maiden (pine, mint, and mistletoe). All the soaps have moisturizing shea, cocoa butter, and kaolin clay, so they're very skin-nourishing. Stop by their table at the market this Saturday and enjoy the delightful scents.

Barefoot Acres Herbs Restocked for Saturday's Market

Barefoot Acres Herbs has been busy restocking a lot of favorites that will be available at the last Saturday Market for the 2024 season. We will have Elderberry Syrup and Spicy Immunity Cider, a.k.a. fire cider. Also, check out  our tinctures, both old and new: Anti-Histamine, Elderberry Syrup Tincture, Cough Elixir, Daily Vitamin C Supplement, and Feel Better Remedy. New tinctures include a Rescue Calm remedy for stress and anxiety and Skin Health, a tincture to help manage eczema, psoriasis and other skin issues from the inside out. And, as always, we invite market visitors to stop and ask us about our products.
Find us on Facebook at Barefoot Acres Herbs. "We grow and forage what we use in our products."

MTSU Student Art Alliance at the Market

This Saturday, the MTSU Student Art Alliance club will be selling works from 10-15 student artists at the Saturday Market. Their goal this year is to raise money to expose members to the art community in the Southeast and show them what kinds of job opportunities they have. They hope that by showcasing student artwork to the public, they will keep some of the best talent in this region instead of losing them to the bigger cities. Stop by their tent and support these young artists.

Murfreesboro City Census at Saturday Market

The City of Murfreesboro is conducting a special census of all City residents.  Establishing an accurate count of our community is important because of the direct correlation between state funding received and the City of Murfreesboro's population.  If the special census results show that we have exceeded our 2020 census population numbers, the city's state revenue will increase. This increase directly benefits our community.  Visit our website at Murfreesboro Census for FAQ or to complete the Special Census Form.
On Saturday at the Market, volunteers will collect census responses for a City Census. Stop by their table to get more information and to participate in the census.

Follow the Murfreesboro Saturday Market on Facebook.

Don't forget to Sign up for our Weekly Saturday Market Electronic Newsletter. We will continue the newsletter throughout the winter and early spring, keeping you updated on where you can buy vendor products and offering tips from our vendors about growing, cooking, baking, and crafting. Sign up so you can keep up with market news.
