That's A Wrap - The Castle Park Community Build Project comes to a close with a Community Celebration!
Castle Park Build Celebrates with the Community
On Sunday the community celebrated the completion of the Castle Park community build. This was a huge undertaking by the organizers of this project that made it happen in only 10 days! Check out the gallery of pictures from the celebration event from the Castle Park Build Facebook page. To see the complete process - Check out their Facebook Page here!

The story of our Castle Park unfolded in so many rich layers. Though the structure is impressive, often called a "Cadillac" park by Play By Design (the company who helped lead our build), the real story lies behind the scenes -- the people. The people, our volunteers and supporters, are the best part of the story. If you came out and worked, especially more than once, there was an incredible spirit of camaraderie between our volunteers. We ate together, sweat together, fought rocks together, and for the skilled -- built amazing structures that built our beautiful park. There was no question we would hit our deadline, though we did have some early-day stress. Our hope was more along the lines of wanting to bless our community beyond the structure, but with the experience. If you helped in any way, we hope you were blessed as much as we were. Every meal provided, all the donated water and snacks, the many thousands of dollars raised (over $450,000+), the 1,500 volunteers, the core teams, the tools loaned... how can we possibly express our gratitude? How can we adequately thank everyone? Our posts are not adequate to express our appreciation.A few items...1) It'll take some time to prepare our donor boards recognizing so many. Please be patient -- those boards will be posted on 7 of the 8 sides of the rock pillars. Brian M. Alfaro will be honored on the 8th side. Plaques for components will also take some time.2) Keep watching this site as we provide updates. Rumor has it that pickets may be offered by the City sometime in the future! 3) We were blessed with so MUCH food during our build. We are so grateful because those 30-minute meals provided the extra energy and break to push our crews through to the finish line. More on this later... But, a BIG thanks to Melissa Carroll for stepping in and filling some pretty big shoes (Debbie) at the last minute as food coordinator (and Amy did, as well!). After juggling the food and construction crews, Melissa and her family showed their heart by going even one step further. After the Celebration, they headed to Wichita to pass out food to the homeless. Thank you!Though we wrapped up our build in 10 days, know it'll take all of us to protect our park, our community, and each other. Augusta is special. Let's continue to find ways to build each other up. God is so good. We are so, so, so very blessed!
