AHSTW Students Gain Real-World Experience Through New Social Media Marketing Internship

Avoca, IA – Avoca Main Street, Inc. and AHSTW Community School District have partnered to create an exciting new opportunity for students and local businesses alike. The Small Business Social Media Marketing Internship is a pilot program designed to give AHSTW students real-world experience in digital marketing while providing valuable marketing support to Avoca businesses.

Through this initiative, two local businesses, Raddberry’s Bakery and Cafe and Holtz Service and Small Engine, have teamed up with AHSTW students to enhance their social media presence. Bryanna Wood and Alondra Vargas, two AHSTW marketing students, have been selected for the internship and are eager to apply their classroom knowledge in a professional setting.

The program, funded by Avoca Main Street’s Economic Vitality Committee, allows students to work directly with business owners to develop and implement social media marketing strategies. As part of this paid internship, students gain hands-on experience in content creation, audience engagement, and digital branding while contributing to the success of local businesses.

“This internship is a fantastic way for students to develop critical marketing skills while also making a meaningful impact on local businesses,” said Amber Mohr, Executive Director of Avoca Main Street, Inc. “By investing in our students, we’re also investing in the long-term success of Avoca’s small business community.”

The internship will run through the end of the school year, providing students with the opportunity to track progress, measure engagement, and refine their marketing strategies in a real-world setting.

For businesses interested in participating in future opportunities, contact Avoca Main Street at mainstreet@cityofavoca.com or visit www.avocamainstreet.com for more information.
