Shining Light on Your Purpose: A Hanukkah-Inspired Creative Exploration
Saturday, January 18, 2:00-3:30pm (JCA)
Facilitated by Jena Schwartz
The audience is people who feel overloaded/over-saturated and long for some quiet time to explore/remember what’s most important. Using the metaphors and themes of the Hanukkah oil, Or Haganuz, hidden light, and seasonal darkness/return of the light, we will explore what it is to explore our inner selves, what “lights” help us discover our purpose, and what this has to do with what the world needs.
Participants will explore these themes through the Jewish Studio Process, a combination of text study, intention-setting, individual creative process, and reflective writing. All welcome! No previous art-making or text study experience is required.
Journal-Making Workshop
Saturday, February 1, 2:00-3:30 (JCA)
Facilitated by Marian Parker
Incorporate your words and images from this Hanukkah-inspired creative exploration into a small-scale accordion book as a more formal record of your experience. There will be opportunities, too, if desired, to use the record of your previous creative experience to expand or embellish your words and images into the book as you see fit. Participants are also invited to use this journal at the February 15 workshop.
Loosening the Soil, Planting the Seeds: A Tu B’Shvat-Inspired Creative Exploration
Saturday, February 15, 2:00-3:30pm (JCA)
Facilitated by Jena Schwartz
This workshop will follow the Jewish Studio Project model and is open to all JCA members who wish to dig into the energy of Tu B’Shvat. We will read texts related to nature, our inner nature, tilling, curiosity, intentionality, getting our hands dirty, faith, hope, beginnings, patience, and process. Participants will explore the question: What am I growing and nurturing at this time?
Anyone who attended Marian’s Journal-Making Workshop is encouraged to use that journal for this creative exploration.
Participants will explore these themes through the Jewish Studio Process, a combination of text study, intention-setting, individual creative process, and reflective writing. All welcome! No previous art-making or text study experience is required.
