A NEW LOCATION for the Chamber of Commerce

Your Hohenwald/Lewis County Chamber of Commerce is a VERY PROACTIVE chamber for such a rural community! In just the last 8 years we have moved our office 4 TIMES! But, each move has caused job creation and better opportunities for our members- and that's what we are all about!

Our first move from Court Street to 31 Smith Street made way for the new offices for the City of Hohenwald Police Station. Then when HcTec needed more office space at the Smith Street complex we were able to move our office to the old historic Train Depot where we had already established an official Welcome Center for our town/county. Then an opportunity through the Tennessee Place Maker's program gave us the chance to open and renovate the old Regions Bank building in downtown Hohenwald (which had been sitting empty for over a dozen years). We took the opportunity to create a co-working space that housed our chamber office, 3 new businesses and open space for individual workers needing office space for a day, a week or a month. Two years into the project though our state created a new judicial (32nd) district and with that a new District Attorney was elected, Mr. Hans Schwendimann to serve Hickman, Lewis and Perry County. It was our delight to be able to turn over the new space to District Attorney Schwendimann to operate from and to bring many more workers to the downtown area!

So, now we have moved 1 block down the street to the busiest corner in Hohenwald! We are located and operating Commerce Corner (the chamber office and coworking space) at 100 East Main Street in the art gallery of the historic Strand Theatre. We are looking forward to serving the businesses and community at large by utilizing the theatre space for special chamber events (such as the Social Media Bootcamp held this past spring) and seasonal popup markets (such as Kringle Korner to be held this winter). The theatre will continue to provide shows, plays, summer youth theatre camps and an event venue for the community under the direction of The Strand Theatre Forever (501-c3) board.

Commerce Corner is expected to be a very busy place in the days to come! Stay tuned!
