What is Awana?
Awana is our midweek discipleship for children grades 1-5. We meet each Wednesday evening and children read scripture, do a craft & play a game.
Each child receives a workbook, shirt and a Bible (if they do not have one themselves).
The name Awana is derived as an acronym of "Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed", taken from 2 Timothy 2:15. As of 2019, Awana works with over 61,000 churches in 122 countries.
Each Awana program is arranged into different groups that are separated by the ages and grades of the children attending. These groups can include Puggles (ages 2 to 3), Cubbies (preschoolers, ages 4 to 5), Sparks (Kindergarten to 2nd Grade), Truth and Training, or T&T (Grades 3 to 6), Trek (Middle School), and Journey (High School). Although Awana offers programs for ages 2 to 18, churches that run an Awana program are not required to run a club for every age group.
Denton Church of the Nazarene's Program has Cubbies, Sparks and Truth & Training.
Awana meets on Wednesday evenings at 6:30-8:00pm. You can register your child here
Age groups include:
Cubbies - preschool age to K5
Sparks - K5 thru 2nd grade
Truth & Training - 3rd grade through 5th grade.
