Main Street Now Conference

From May 5th through May 8th, Main Street Chillicothe attended the National Main Street Now conference in Birmingham, Alabama. This year, the conference had a record-breaking attendance of nearly 2,000 attendees. There were many new faces this year, with 900 new attendees, including one member from Main Street Chillicothe, Liv Lauhoff. This annual conference is an excellent opportunity to spark new ideas for our community and create new connections with individuals from around the country. 

Beautiful downtown Birmingham was the ideal location for the conference. Attendees had the opportunity to experience the City Walk. The City Walk is a space under Interstate I 59/20 that cuts through the downtown area and has been redesigned to become a fresh and vibrant communal space. The space provides many opportunities, such as fitness classes, skating, concerts, and other various activities. 

Attending these conferences inspires ideas to enact in your local community but also sparks motivation within our Main Street volunteers. A special thank you to all of the Main Street Chillicothe volunteers who could attend. Chuck Erke, Midge Erke, Steve Franke, Rebecca Franke, Liv Lauhoff, and Tomie Walker. These individuals took away many new and helpful ideas for Main Street Chillicothe and your community. The conference had various sessions that individuals attended—covering multiple topics such as creating small business incubators, painting crosswalks and sidewalks, grant opportunities, and more.
