Summer 2024 Flower Pot Program

Have you noticed the new pops of color downtown? If not, this is your invitation to take a stroll downtown Chillicothe and check out the freshly planted flowers. The Main Street Chillicothe Design Committee works diligently in September and October each year planning for the season to come. This program has a positive impact on the beautification in our community. Our organization is proud to partner with the City of Chillicothe and the Parks Department to provide this asset annually. 

The Summer plantings are placed in May and enjoyed through October. This year, 88 individual flower pots were adopted by downtown businesses. This season, the flower pots are sprouting various flowers, including Salvias, Begonias, Lantanas, and Petunias. This assortment can also be found at Silver Moon Plaza and at the Dairy Mural on the corner of Locust and Jackson. The same mix with the addition of ornamental grass is flourishing in the twelve brick planter boxes. Be sure to check them out while shopping at your favorite downtown stores. The Kelly Poling Arts District on Locust is adorned with Begonias, Petunias, and Scaevolas spilling from the light pole wrap around planters. 

The 2024 Main Street Chillicothe planting contract is with Beth Weidner of Weed’s Greenhouse in Tina. Beth has submitted proposals and successfully carried out the growing and planting work for many years. A special thank you to Michael Poindexter, who oversees the watering of all the downtown flowers. If you see him, make sure to give him a wave and a thank you.
