Reflecting on a Year of Community Success Downtown

Chillicothe, MO – Main Street Chillicothe is thrilled to reflect on a year of incredible progress and community collaboration that continues to transform our Main Street District into a vibrant and thriving destination. With the support of dedicated volunteers, generous investments, and strong partnerships, 2024 has been a remarkable year of achievement.

Highlights from the past year include:

• 804 volunteer hours generously given by community members to support downtown initiatives.

• Over $400,000 in public and private improvement investments, strengthening our historic district.

• The addition of 8 new housing units, contributing to downtown's residential growth.

• The launch of 6 new businesses, creating 10 new jobs and further bolstering our local economy.

• Completion of 2 Facade Grants, enhancing the longevity, charm, and character of downtown buildings.

• 4 new trees planted to beautify the district and improve the urban environment.

• 14 downtown community events that engaged residents and visitors alike, including 2 free outdoor movie nights and the Downtown Holiday Lighting, featuring the refurbishment of our iconic "Neon Santa" display.

• 3 historic and mural tours showcasing Chillicothe’s rich history and vibrant art scene.

• 2 mural maintenance projects completed to preserve our public art.

• A successful downtown clean-up day, emphasizing community pride and care.

• 2 Main-iacs on Main Youth Volunteer art installment projects in the Kelly Poling Arts District, fostering creativity and youth engagement.
