In 2025, Main Street Mason City is committed to enhancing the natural beauty of our city through the planting of flowers in Central Park and throughout the downtown district. Along with our community beautification projects, we will also host district cleanup days to maintain a fresh and welcoming environment. With your support, we can:

Main Street Mason City is launching a campaign to refresh our downtown district with brand-new streetscape banners! These eye-catching banners will adorn streetlights along Federal Avenue, stretching from the Federal Avenue Pedestrian Plaza to 4th Street NE. They will add a touch of flair and a welcoming energy to our community. With your support, we’ll:

• Introduce colorful, professionally designed banners to enhance the downtown streetscape.
• Create a lively and cohesive visual identity that reflects the spirit of Mason City.
• Boost community pride and elevate the destination brand of the downtown district.

Bike Parking & Amenities: Supporting Outdoor Recreation

The Main Street Mason City (MSMC) bike parking project is a key part of the larger “Bike North Iowa” initiative, funded by the Destination Iowa grant and the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). This initiative focuses on expanding outdoor recreational opportunities, including trail development, enhancements, and the creation of a state-of-the-art bike park. The goal is to position Mason City as a premier destination for biking enthusiasts. To accommodate the growing number of cyclists, MSMC is leading the expansion of bike parking in Central Park. This new bike parking area will provide a secure and convenient space for cyclists to park their bikes while they explore downtown Mason City’s attractions, restaurants, and shops. The estimated cost of this project is $30,000, covering grade work, concrete slabs, bike racks (with lighting), and landscaping materials. Our campaign to replenish supplies for these patriotic displays in Central Park and around the Veterans Memorial ensures this cherished tradition continues. Your contributions will support:

• The purchase of 24” flags to be planted in Central Park and around the Veterans Memorial, creating a stirring tribute.
• The purchase of patriotic bunting to adorn the historic Civil War Monument, enhancing its beauty and significance.
• The preservation of a treasured community tradition that honors the sacrifices of our veterans and celebrates our nation’s heritage.

Guerrilla Wayfinding Signage: Encouraging Exploration

Main Street Mason City is excited to launch a campaign to enhance our downtown experience with vibrant guerrilla wayfinding signs. These creative and eye-catching signs will guide residents and visitors to retail shops, dining hotspots, outdoor recreation, and cultural attractions within the downtown district.
