Carthage Main Street Youth Advisory Council Now Accepting Applications for New Members

The Carthage Main Street Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is now accepting applications for new members! This dynamic group of young leaders is dedicated to organizing events, spearheading community projects, and enhancing downtown Carthage through youth-led initiatives.

YAC plays a pivotal role in the success of several major events each year, including the Mainstreet Short Film Festival, the Carthage Main Street Film Camp, and the Panola Has Talent show. In addition to these signature programs, YAC members also take on special projects that benefit the community, such as maintaining the popular life-size chess set in Anderson Park.

Joining YAC provides an excellent opportunity for local youth to gain leadership experience, engage in community service, and make a lasting impact on their hometown. Members work closely with city leaders, business owners, and local organizations to bring fresh ideas and enthusiasm to Carthage’s historic downtown.

Applications are open to students who are passionate about community involvement and eager to develop their leadership skills. Current 7th-grade students can apply for a 5-year term, and current 8th-grade students can apply for a 4-year term.  Those interested in applying can visit www.carthagetexasmainstreet.us and click on the “About Us” link and go to “Youth Advisory Council” to fill out the application.  Any questions can be directed to Cindy Deloney, Carthage Main Street Manager at 903-693-0160.

Don’t miss the chance to be part of this inspiring group and help shape the future of downtown Carthage!
